Why would you do such a thing?!

Here are just a few of the reasons we're doing this:
  • To see friends and family and significant places that we won't otherwise see, much more cheaply than on lots of short holidays
  • For all four of us to get a better picture of the world
  • To get a break from the pressures of school, work, etc., and remember the joy of learning and experiencing new things and challenges that sometimes gets drained out of us by all that
  • To get to spend lots of time together at a stage when many young people and parents seem to get pulled apart
  • To learn about world religions, global politics, a wide range of natural habitats, and what shops, streetstalls and markets are like in different countries
  • To spend time in places where racism plays out differently than it does in the UK, to see what that's like for us all
  • To get the chance to really rest after working too hard for a while
  • To see rainforest, swim with dolphins, make new friends, see how old human cultures are, see how fast-changing they can be ...
  • To have time to regularly play guitar, juggle pois, talk about the way the world works, learn new things for the fun of them, be physically active, write this blog ...
  • To spend money we've earned on something we really want: this has been a great motivator to save, to be in charge of and to earn money - all things we've wanted to get better at

Hi Everyone

One of the most fantastic things about this trip, is that you have been planning it for so long, and you have worked so hard to get their, and you have actually achieved it. I guess all of us have dreams or secret ambitions, but you guys have shown us all the courage and conviction to know that anything is possible.

Lani and I went on a mad shopping spree at the weekend after we spoke with you, I really think it was a genuine case of retail therapy, we are missing you and the house is really quiet with both of us at work everyday, but its really nice to come home and be able to catch up with what you have been up to.

Alicia and Steph have just been over to do their homework on the computer and typically they were arguing, Mmmm reminds me of two other young women I know!!

Anyway I am aware we will be out of contact for a bit, take care and enjoy the next few days.

Love and Peace always

Hi All
This is my third attempt to send a comment, so lets hope I make it this time. Glad to get all your great news, you sound as if you are having a wonderful time, despite the 'variety' of odd food.
You are all being missed, but somehow you seem nearer than usual because you are so prolific? with your news.
Lani is spending the evening with us, and hopefully helping me to get it right this time.
Will set up a time to speak to you by phone soon
Love
