Elephants, and a temple up a hill

Well, we've been having a very good time, we've been up to Chang Mai (on a Thai train, which was really nice).

Mark ate Sushi while we waited for the train There was lots of space on the bottom bunks

Rosa was happy on top (in the end) Mark slept with his guitar!

We went up to a temple which was at a top of a mountain; we went up by cable car (we did not want to walk), and up at the top there was a really nice view.

That view We got there up some really windy roads

Gerard drove us up there There were monks and flowers at Doi Suthep temple I liked it up there ...

... so did Mark ... ... and Diane looked OK too

There was a lot of gold ... ... and a lot of steps, but we only went down them

We have also been to see elephants painting. Yes real elephants, painting really nice pictures, and also playing football.

Here we are with Xander and Seamus Seamus making friends

The start of the elephant show at the elephant camp Paintings done by clever elephants

A clever elephant A really clever elephant An elephant who thinks Heather's clever

Elephants like bananas and sugar-cane Heather holds hands with a new friend

These guys climb up ... ... and sit on top of the elephants

What's that elephant doing to Mark? The elephant makes it up with him

Then we have just hung around our hotel for a bit, but me and rosa kept going to the internet a lot which was cheap and next to the hotel.

Then we got a VIP bus to Chang Rai which is a bit smaller than Chang Mai but nice. We've been up to the Myanmar (burma) border so Seamus could get his visa, so while Seamus was doing that we were shopping for Di's shop which was really fun.

We're now getting ready to fly up to Bangkok tomorrow, where we are going to meet Jo, which is also goin to be fun

speak to ya soon - missin ya loads

Having read your earlier post about wanting comments from readers I feel compelled to write. I still read your blog every now and again and am still both envious and in awe of your journey. I was in chang mai a hundred years ago, (or so it seems) and probably visited the same market as you have - although my budget went right out of the window while there, and the food.... actually I think thats where most of my budget went!!
The train journey up there from bangkok was amazing too, ended up drinking thai whiskey with one of the armed carriage guards, trying on his hat and at one point playing 'russian roulette' with his gun (he assured us it was empty). Small, trivial, but at least a post for you to read. go well, Glen

By now Jo will have arrived and I hope you are fixing full body massage with cranial and foot massage for her. I loved the elephants which looked quite small, I'd like an elephant hug.
windy and wet here with threatening grey sky but some daffodils are coming out. Camilla has a huge diamond engagement ring and looked very good in a long plain red dress at their engaement party. Losing time, bye now
