Aramoana

Lisa, Paul, Max and Myra are regular visitors to Philip and Madeleine's house at Aramoana - the adults took Heather and me there while Rosa was having a birthday skate with the other young 'uns.

To get to Aramoana, head straight on past the horse's bum, and make your way through the dunes:

Clockwise (above right), that's Heather, Lisa, Paul, Madeleine and Philip. Sitting slightly behind with the red hair is Madeleine and Philip's friend Moira, hanging out with their sons Rocko and Beau(hiding behind Moira).

Both Philip and Madeleine make their livings as artists (in ceramics) - though you'd never know, going by the uninspiring and unimaginative house they choose to live in ;-)

We arrived unannounced, but Madeleine soon knocked up huge quantities of scones, jam and cream.

Aramoana is a magical place - long may they continue to hold out against the wind, tides and encroaching sand. The house is full of light and colours, and it's evidently proving a great place for two little boys to grow up in.

And they make nice scones too.
