Free food, and a zoo

After Hobart, we came back to Sydney, and stayed in the Railway YHA - nice enough, although no nearer to the train station entrance than the other central YHA in Sydney.

It was fun cooking in the very clean and well appointed communal kitchen. There was internet access, the smallest pool in the world, a laundry place, noticeboards, friendly helpful staff, and they'd even sell you the ingredients for spaghetti on toast. Best of all, though, was the "free food" shelf for people to leave stuff in when they left: we had pasta and salad one night made with pesto, herbs and spaghetti from there, and with lettuce from the similar shelf in the fridge. When we left, we dumped some of our own pasta and tomatoes in there, and a group of young guys were very pleased to have their dinner sorted out for them ...

Another day, a nice ferry ride took us across to Taroga Zoo:

just caught up with several months worth of you all - sorry not to have checked in for a while, been out of the loop a bit. but it's been a great hour or so seeing all your photos and hearing your stories. rosa and melissa, you both look like you've got taller, have you? can hardly believe you're in mexico now and on the final legs of your journeys. in so many ways it seems like yesterday when i last saw you and in others like a lifetime ago.
take good care all of you and have fun- you're very good at that i think.
lots of love
