The Edinburgh of the South

Staying with our friends in Dunedin was so good. We felt instantly at home and we easily slipped back into an easy and friendly relationship with them. Our kids just clicked with theirs and we had so much in common and had a similar sense of humour, cared about the same things and just got on well. It was also great to be living with a dog again - thanks Luna for being such a good dog, even though she did poo in our bedroom!

We hung out in Dunedin, which is very pretty and has magnificent views - though the downside of that of course is huge hills to climb - again. The city was similar to Hobart in many ways.

Best things about being in Dunedin

  • Japanese food,
  • celebrating Rosa's birthday,
  • going to a fantastic beach and meeting some lovely friends of Lisa and Paul's,
  • having time off the kids as the four of them went places on their own,
  • seeing real live Albatroses close up and yellow eyed penguins,
  • great farmers market where we bought Rosa's cookies and cream cheesecake for her birthday plus lots of other delicious things,
  • me and Lisa walking the dog in different lovely places and talking about everything under the sun.

Worst things about Dunedin

  • only being there for one week,
  • hills to climb,
  • cold weather,
  • TV!

And here they are:
