Otago Peninsula

On a blowy day, we headed up the Otago Peninsula, the long jutting-out-bit that protects Dunedin's bay from the sea, and made Otago Harbour a great place for sailing ships - hence Dunedin's existence.

A wiggly drive worried some of our stomachs, but was worth it for the Royal Albatrosses on Taiaroa Head, Yellow-Eyed Penguins, and general scenic attractions:

We haven't good enough zoom to snap albatrosses, we discover - but we saw a couple of fluffy white big chicks, and several enormous adults. Then off to Penguin Beach.

From the Albatross centre, we'd been able to see the spit of sand on which Lisa and Paul's friends Philip and Madeleine live: Aramoana.
